If it seems easy for Murk to rhyme about God's plan, it's only because she's seen it unfold – however winding the path – in her own life. If it's effortless when she raps about being a Proverbs 31 woman ("Iller than Picasso/Yeah, I'm a work of art") it's only because she knows what it's like to walk on the other side. And if she seems grateful it's only because she is. Murk’s winding path starts in Peoria, IL her hometown, where she discovered her love of theater and performing on stage. It then took her from one life in Florida – disillusioned and disappointed with God, bouncing from one college major to the next, hanging with a toxic group of friends and stuck in a career she wasn’t sure she wanted – to a life she never could’ve imagined was waiting for her as a Dedicated Music Group artist. In the fall of 2013 Murk released her album Murk in Season (featuring the smash hit “P31”). After the viral success of her music video for “P31” it became clear that the Proverbs 31 woman was more than just an idea or a single song – it was a movement. Murk’s deep passion for God and women inspired her to launch what she calls the P31 movement. Her mission is to influence and empower women of all ages to discover their God given power & purpose in the world. Her desire is to help other women realize their true identity and potential as beloved daughters of God. She teaches that a woman is not a product of her environment, nor the opinions of the men around her, but a product of the relationship that she builds with Jesus Christ. Murk’s message for women is that beauty is not a matter of the outward appearance but of the heart. She teaches that happiness and self-fulfillment begin in the inner woman and if cultivated, will spread into every aspect of her life. Murk says that her desire is to help mentor a group of women will proudly represent and model the precious character of the Proverbs 31 woman. With this movement, she hopes to help build an army of P31s who courageously defy societal standards and boldly live out their own. Murk quotes, “They will know who they are, who they were born to be, and what they were called to do. They will live, love, and conquer life fiercely!”
