A young man has died in a car crash on the coast of Wales, his body apparently lost at sea. An inspector discovers that the man had been involved with a venerable Wiccan sect with connections to the elite. As he digs further, he comes to suspect that perhaps, Pedro, the young man, is not dead at all. There are some tenuous links to the mysterious history of the region going back to Druidic times, and that what was past is present, as indicated by some interesting clues from an archaeological project, of which Pedro had being working on. And certainly his various lovers, young and old, all had some grievance with him, though they seemed to love him. The story moves from Europe to Canada to its stunning conclusion.
