It is 2009 in a country formerly called the United States. An obscure contingency plan was hatched in a soon to be defunded government bureau. Operation Reboot observed that if a Rapture were to happen, there would be a loss of government control, mass hysteria, and catastrophic loss of life. The plan marked out a method by which the country could maintain effective control and actually emerge stronger. The plan was never implemented due to technological limitations and ethical reservations. America fell, but unfortunately the plan survived...

Ed Thielman is a shell of a man. Out of work & alcoholic, he hides behind the cover of caring for his children and claiming to be a writer. His wife Jessica struggles to keep up appearances until a simple mistake puts their whole family on the run. The war changes everything, and now survival consumes them.

The City of Calendra has survived the war and is the sole heir of civilization. Gleaming under a Pleniglass dome, citizens enjoy all the comforts of technological success. Outside are those who for whatever reason do not want to join the city.

People can choose the body they would like, and Valerie Mears desperately hopes that her modification will bring the true love of a powerful man.
Laurie Simpson is forced out of the presidency over an archaic plan to deal with a rapture. Her replacement, James Thrace intends to cement his power through the creation of the perfect First Lady and use Operation Reboot as stepping stone to total power.
