James Demetrian never imagined that earning a college diploma and beginning a career would trap him in a lifetime of subterfuge.  After receiving a degree in electrical engineering James starts his employment in the energy industry at a large Gulf Coast refinery.   While settling into his new life he becomes suspicious that some of his coworkers and bosses may be involved in illicit endeavors that use the refinery business as cover.  The mysterious death of a colleague and a windfall of money are among the developments that James encounters in his quest for the truth.

Demetrian’s best efforts to steer clear of enlistment are no match for the organization behind the subversive activity, and its tentacles steadily reach deeper into his life.  There is no sanctuary or safe haven, and no way to distinguish a collaborator from a trusted friend.  The more he learns the more the mystery intensifies, and by trying to unravel the intricate maze of secrets he puts his own life and the lives of his loved ones at risk.  The question is not whether James will find the answers he’s searching for, it’s what the consequences will be.   The key is undoubtedly in the significance of one clue:  Plus or Minus Two Percent.
