Ky’a’s world is turned upside down when a freak of nature pulls her from her reality and dumps her into another, another where suddenly she is a mother and no longer about to be married to the man of her dreams. Now, working as a doctor on her father’s home planet, Ky’a is offered the job of being Captain on board a space station. But Ky’a is unsure if she wants to drag her two children to a hostile and unexplored region of space, but the chance to do some good gives her the incentive to start life anew.
The station Poseidon, as it becomes affectionately known, is the neutral space between worlds and galaxies, where numerous people use the markets to trade and swap gossip, to hide out from persecution and slavery, and to solve disputes. The area is filled with species who are hell bent on religious persecution, bears who hate security cameras, Dorfs who just want to start fights and sell drugs, and peaceful lizards like the Saxecobers who just want to spread peace and simplicity. Keeping the peace might not be as easy as Ky’a had been hoping.
