Part 3 of the Justified Trilogy

Daemon Justice returns from overseas work to be with his family. After playing some with his six-year-old daughter Danielle, it is his wife Dominique's time; she has been preparing a summary for a case and didn't get to spend much time with him when he first returned. Her office and their bedrooms are on the third floor.

As they begin to talk, barking can be heard from outside - it is their dogs, all trained guard dogs. After hearing some gunfire, Daemon tells Dominique to run to the bedroom to get a shotgun while he'll get Danielle.

The intruders know where they are going - after entering the house, they skip looting and head directly for the stairs. Daemon goes to get Danielle, but the invaders have detailed knowledge of the internal structure of the house and are not looting, but head to the stairs. Knowing that he will not be able to rejoin Dominique without placing Danielle in more danger, Daemon tells her to go and hide as he pulls a collector's item two-handed greatsword off the wall mount; it is the only weapon he has available. With the aid of his wife and his dogs, the invaders are defeated. When identifying the attackers, Daemon sees a similar symbol on their uniforms.

With seeing the uniform, Daemon knows who the invaders are allied with: a warlord Batala. After learning that there will be no substantive response, Daemon decides to make his own response. He knows Batala will not give up until he succeeds. As a warlord, Batala has his own soldiers. Daemon will gather friends and comrades in arms to join him; some will join him overseas to mount an assault; others will remain behind to help defend his family while he is gone. The family goes to their cabin.

With his training and men, Daemon finds Batala's base. While executing his attack, Daemon finds new plans of an attack on his family at the cabin. Waking Batala, Daemon tortures him to get the information of the next attack; the attack includes a large number of soldiers, gas, and is happening while Daemon is raiding Batala's base.

Back at the cabin, Dominique and Danielle are protected with a number of Daemon's compatriots. However, Batala's plan involves overwhelming force and more than a hundred soldiers swarm the Justice's cabin - far outnumbering those who are to defend it.
