Maia has been captured by invaders to her homeland, and has been forced to march to their distant home, with a long line of other slaves. Presently she is taken into the service of one of the enemy king's twin daughters, the Green Princess, who has taken it into her head to have Maia trained as a personal guard. A woman has never been so trained, and Maia is by way of being an experiment.

Prepared to suffer beneath the rough hands of the barbarian princesses, Maia is surprised to find herself being treated with consideration and kindness, and in the course of time comes to love both the twin princesses, especially the Blue Princess, with whom she finds herself in a secret physical and emotional relationship. When the Blue Princess marries and departs to live with her husband in a distant kingdom, Maia is left with loneliness, and an unfulfilled longing for the love of her mistress, who seems oblivious to her feelings.

Unexpectedly, the kingdom of the Green Princess and her father is invaded by a race of giants, and Maia fights for the king, but the battle is lost, and Maia escapes with the Green Princess. On the run, the two girls are forced to resolve their feelings for each other, as they head towards Maia's homeland, looking for refuge.
