“So, you’re looking for a reward.” Prophet’s voice had an amused quality that he wasn’t sure he liked.
“That’s what separates me from the rest of you.” Hood gave her a lopsided grin of his own. “I don’t do things just because they’re the right thing to do. I do them because I expect to get something out of it.”
“And what did you except to get out of helping me?” Prophet was unaffected by brazenly callous his response.
“Satisfaction. I was curious why you’d come to me of all people, so I decided to play along.”
“That’s all you were after, satisfying your…curiosity?” Prophet gave him a smile made to melt ice. Hood started changing in his head again.
“It’s a reason.” His voice was steady but those big brown eyes of hers drilled into him.
“Then maybe I should give you a bonus.” Prophet’s lips were so soft he almost didn’t notice her press them to his.
Just a quick peck and she backed off all of an inch. And then came back pressing harder, more passionately. Her lips parted and her tongue found its way into his mouth. Somehow his hands were in her hair, running through its silken length.
Shifting off the arm of the chair she straddled him. The heat of her lay across him like a weight he never wanted to get rid of. Vanilla scent filled his nostrils. From her shampoo? Maybe that was just her.
