A debut novel by Wisconsin author, Gini Athey!

Two years after mourning the death of her husband, Marianna Spencer ventures alone to Wolf Creek, Wisconsin, in search of the perfect fabric for her latest original quilt design. Once there, she spots a For Sale sign in the front window of the quilt shop and makes a brash decision to buy the business.

Back in Green Bay, Wisconsin with her new found excitement rising, the last person she expects to see on her doorstep is Rachel, her teen step-daughter, with a baby. Marianna has never met the teenager and although reluctant, even resentful, she can’t turn them away.

Living above the quilt shop on Wolf Creek Square, Marianna offers the young teen mother guidance and deals with her occasional rebellion as the three of them become part of the tight-knit community. Marianna must also decide what to do about the surprising attentions of Art Carlson, the attractive jewelry designer next door.

"If you've ever paused to admire a handmade quilt, only to discover the more closely you look the more you find to admire; such as the precision of the tiny stitches, the intricacies of the pattern, the adept blending of prints and colors. Like that handmade quilt you find fascinating, QUILTS GALORE by Gini Athey will draw you into its story.

Admittedly, upon starting this book, I didn't expect this first time author to draw me in the way she did. But the more I read, the more I wanted to read about the main characters and those surrounding and supporting them. I highly recommend you wrap yourself up in QUILTS GALORE and cuddle into its warmth. I greatly look forward to learning more about the residents of Wolf Creek Square as this series continues."
—Barbara A. Raffin, author of the St. John Sibling series (from Amazon.com)

"This book is much like a modern-day "Lark Rise to Candleford," the PBS series that deals with small towns and has a kind of sweetness to it that we don't find in many TV shows—or books. The characters the author created in Quilts Galore have real problems, and the main character is a widow trying to start a new life, but readers won't find murder and mayhem. It's set in a small Wisconsin town and a community of shopkeepers welcome the new owner of the quilt shop, Marianna, who has had a few surprises come her way. A teenager and a baby were not part of Marianna's plan, but somehow it seems inevitable that all involved will discover new kinds of love. This is the first book in a series, so readers can become attached to the places and people in the book. As with any series that grabs me, I'm waiting for the next book. Very nicely done."

Gini Athey grew up in a house of readers, so much so it wasn’t unusual for members of her family to sit around the table and read while they were eating. Today, Gini usually reads three or four books at the same time, and her “to-be-read pile” towers next to her favorite chair. She reads widely in many genres, but her favorite books focus on families, with all their various challenges and rewards.

Gini’s love of quilting, both making and admiring them, began when she was a young girl spending time with her grandmother. Although her grandpa never understood why anyone would cut up perfectly good fabric only to sew it back together, Gini and her grandma knew the lure of doing just that. In 1992, Gini opened a full-service business for professional quilters to produce and distribute their original designs.

Gini and her husband live west of Green Bay, WI.

Pick up this wonderful contemporary women's fiction romance about family relationships, being a new business owner, and learning to find romance all over again.
