Rage takes her first vacation back home. Jones laid a peck on her cheek when she left. She is having a problem with it being so unexpected. At home Granny Jane is wondering about a bow for Janette.
The sheriff has a death from cattle rustling that has been going on for a time. He asks Janette for help. It appears the rustlers were after two prize bulls. Old man Smith is shot twice with the same gun, likely not an accident. No one seems to know anything, and the beef is not showing up within 100 miles.
The state police take a week to review the file, adds nothing but rustling.
Janette discovers the south valley was a central hub for the old missile trains. It was top secret, moved down to classified and for some reason not de-classified per procedures.
The land is used by many to graze cattle. It is assumed to be all government owned, why ask and have them fence it off.
Rage will need more help than just the single sheriff when the rustlers send in several truckloads of men. They want much more than just the cattle.
