Religious deception, the Lord told His disciples, would be very prevalent in the end times. The devil is the master of deception. He watches closely everything the Lord does and tries to counterfeit it. "And no wonder, for satan himself masquerades as an angel of light" (2 Cor. 11:14). We can expect him to make every attempt to produce false signs that will draw people away from God. He has been in the counterfeiting business from the beginning of time.
Satan's master trick is to deceive people and to send them out to deceive hundreds and thousands — and even millions — of beautiful people for whom Christ died. "Blind leaders of the blind",Jesus called them, adding that "both shall fall into the ditch" (Matt. 15:14). "Watch out," said Jesus, "that no one deceives you!"
"False Christs" and "False Prophets" are a major sign of the End Times and the Return of Christ.
