The fact is that it is all far too easy to forget that someone we see as an elderly, dependent and sometimes demanding case once had a full and vibrant rewarding life, prior to the onset of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Both of these conditions are cruel, affect everyone and are nowadays, all too common an occurrence. This collection of short stories is based around the theme of the seven heavenly virtues. Most of us are familiar with Faith, Hope and Charity. The others are Prudence, Temperance (or Restraint, in today's modern language), Justice and Courage. The aim of this book is to illustrate that people and situations are not always as we see them. In other words, there is something of all of us in this book, or at least someone we know. After reading these stories, the reader should have a reflective reaction, as well as an extra dimension of appreciation when seeing or meeting an elderly person with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
