This book deals with the issue of reservations in educational institutions and public services as a means to secure justice to the backward classes. It takes into account all the relevant provisions of the Constitution in their proper perspective in the light of judicial pronouncements and intellectual interpretations. It also takes into account some of the important arguments raised against the policy of reservation meant for the socio-economic development of the weaker sections of the Indian society and tries to reveal the foulness in those arguments, in the light of constitutional provisions and judicial pronouncements to that effect. They argue that in order to bring into reality the sublime objective of the Constitution to establish a new social order based on justice, liberty, equality and fraternity, it is imperative to implement the provisions of the Constitution with expediency and honesty.
