River Kay can see your dreams.
She could control them too…if she actually knew how. The truth is, she can’t stop seeing them, let alone control them, and it’s becoming a BIG problem in her seventh grade science class.
She told her best friend, Jaelyn, about it. All Jaelyn wants to know is what boys’ dream about (Seriously?!? That’s it?). She can’t tell her dad, what would he say? Probably something like, “How would you like it if people did that to you, Monkey?” Besides, he’s the one person who doesn’t dream. Ever.
Just as her new ability manifests itself, her mother who she hardly sees (stupid divorce), decides to visit. She doesn’t just stop by the house, though. She appears to River in her dream and reveals that River belongs to the Dreamwalkers: a secret group of people who possess the ability to control and manipulate the Dreamworld, the world where our dreams take place.
Her mother sends her friend and mentor, Coleson, to train River in her newfound abilities. He brings with him his apprentice, Harper, a boy whose greatest power seemingly is to annoy River. As River and Harper train together their relationship deepens, but not without repercussions. An irreparable rift forms between River and Jaelyn over their new “friend”(stupid boys!). River’s love triangle is the least of her problems, though.
Coleson carries a dark secret, but it is not his alone. River’s mother and father are entangled in this deadly web, and now, so is River.
