A delightful illustrated picture book based on an old Hungarian folk-tale. Many years ago, Hungary covered a much larger area in Central Europe than it does today. Another large European country was Turkey and relations between Turkey and Hungary were not always peaceful. In Hungary, they talk about ‘the 150 year occupation’ when Turkey occupied most of Hungary. In reality, parts of the Hungarian Kingdom were occupied by Turkey from 1421 until 1718. As a result, Hungarians did not like their Turkish rulers and made up funny stories about them that did not show them in a good light. This story is based on one of those tales and features a little Hungarian rooster who manages to outsmart a ruthless Turkish Sultan.
