Rosie O'donnell is an American stand-up comedienne, actress, author and media personality. She first started her comedy career as a teenager, catching her big break on the talent show Star Search, in 1984. Two years later, she made her TV debut as Nell Carter's neighbor on Gimme a Break!, after which followed a series of appearances on TV and in movies that introduced Rosie to a larger national audience.
