Scorpius is the first instalment in the Zodiac science fiction series.
Murder
Detective Alex Warner investigates the murder of the Caerus Ambassador to the Galactic Confederation. Mysterious symbols written on a scrap of paper lie at the scene of the crime as a clue, but what are they saying? He comes across previous murders with similar symbols on them. Alex realises these are the calling cards of a serial killer, but what do the symbols mean? The killer is continuing his handiwork as the symbols count down to the first. The psychopath is obeying instructions from another.
Conspiracy
Ahiga, the dead Ambassador’s son, is devastated by his father’s murder. As he sifts through his father’s possessions, he finds evidence of a clandestine organisation. They have aims of replacing the governments of Cetusian controlled planets with human overlords. Agents for the organisation are cleaning up loose ends including Ahiga, forcing him to enter a game of cat and mouse to prevent capture or worse. Ahiga and Alex cross paths with uncanny frequency, much to Alex’s annoyance.
Intrigue
Chooli, a Cetusian woman, meets Alex in the hotel bar and they instantly enchant each other. Their relationship slowly intensifies and grows, as they parry each other’s personalities, despite Alex’s prejudice of Cetusians. He reluctantly enters a serious relationship, despite the scares of betrayal in the past. Chooli finally draws him to her and takes Alex to meet her family.
Can Alex apprehend the killer before there are any more murders? Will they stop the conspiracy in time? Can Alex overcome his emotional scars and risk a true meaningful relationship again? Will Chooli’s family accept him – a human?
Does Scorpius use its sting? Scorpius the science fiction thriller reveals.
