Children's Story - 3,744 words
5 year-old Scott was in the backseat of the car with his two little brothers. The car was all packed with stuff. Mom, and his new uncle Rich that he'd just met, were in the front seat. Mom said they were taking a trip, leaving Seattle and going to visit his grandparents in Salt Lake. That was okay, but he didn't understand why dad wasn't going with them. Why was he standing in the driveway with tears in his eyes as he waved good-bye. Mommy looked like she might start crying too. What was wrong? Scott's thoughts were interrupted as his uncle exclaimed "Here we go!", and then started pulling out of the driveway. Soon they were on the road to new adventure.
Scott encounters many new places, new things and new people. He's traveling somewhere far to meet his grandparents for the first time in a land where something called "snow" falls and snowmen roam. Along the way he faces aliens, asteroids and flies in spaceships. He even has to face off a giant in a dark and dusty dungeon. But he learns the power of love and togetherness can overcome any of these challenges, and even scarier ones that life can sometimes throw at us.
