There are two dimensions in this universe. Novel and Reality. Reality being the complex world of humans and Novel being a flat plain populated by human-like beings living with advanced technologies The only link between these worlds exists as a series of volumes written by Pearce, an unusual man who was sent to Victoria, Canada in 1890. On the 100th anniversary of Pearce's return, the state of Novel invests in sending an eccentric high school student to Reality in order to update Pearce's findings. Thus begins the strange misadventures of Simile Protagonist, his alter ego Seabury De Leone, and the criminally notorious Vivace family in June 1999, a summer before a new millenium.
