This story follows Awakening of the Gods by going back forty-seven-thousand years, to a time when Homo Sapiens were spreading rapidly into the Middle East, during a period known today as the Cognitive Revolution. A young girl called Leto is taken from her family and enslaved, thus beginning her odyssey to find herself, her people, and her purpose. Her mother had told her she was special but nothing could have prepared her for what that meant.

In a world where people call upon spirits, titans, and gods to protect them from the wrath of nature and the unknown, Leto is hounded by a warlord who appears to be from the unknown world of the spirits, who wants only to kill her and her people. As she grows into a mature woman, Leto learns that being special is as much a curse as a blessing, especially when so many come to depend on her for protection from the new arrivals as well as the gods themselves. As she discovers who she is, Leto must face ever-increasing challenges from the gods and the violent ice-age world she lives in.
