Shruthi is an eight year old orphan living in South East India. She has been caring for her two younger siblings since their parents died two years before. The children were living with relatives until they were sent to an orphanage. They have been neglected, mistreated and abandoned and as a result are quite insecure. Shruthi feels great responsibility for her brother and sister, vowing to keep her little family intact. But when her three year old sister is given the opportunity to be adopted and taken to America, Shruthi decides to sacrifice her heart and let her sister go where she will have a better life. Shruthis Heart is a story of the struggles and challenges facing Indian orphans and the challenge of transition to a new country, learning a new language and culture. But most of all, its a story of healing, not only for the parentless children, but also for a childless couple whose lives are fulfilled by merging two cultures and five hearts to make one family.
