Paul Czarda drinks whiskey in order to write, and write he must. Driven by his imagination, he has left the world of others. Then the world comes knocking. A teenaged girl delivers his newspaper and offers him her body. Drunkenly, he begins a degrading affair. He is an apostate Mormon, ousted by Church elders for drinking and unwillingness to work a decent job. Helen Snow, a divorced Mormon, has desired him ever since he spoke on the Book of Mormon some months ago. They begin a less than perfect romance. Suddenly the teenaged girl goes missing, and Czarda finds himself stalked by a cinematographer obsessed in filming a snuff movie.
