The snow fell outside as Mitch built a fire. He had planned this night for a bit and Kate knew nothing about it. He liked to spice up their life as much as he could since their meeting 10 years ago. Looking around the room he saw that Maria had fixed it exactly to how he had asked. Dinner was in the oven and the house looked spectacular as he carefully went up the stairs not to knock over any candles or mess up anything.
Going into the bedroom the satin sheets reflected the candle light in the room. He smiled. Kate would never expect such a plan from him. She always knew he tried to spice things up, however generally something always seemed to go askew and though they would have amazing sex, it was never perfect in all the setting. Tonight he knew it would be perfect.
Going back down stairs he heard the door open and a gasp. Soon he heard voices, not just Kate’s. Shaking his head, he knew once again, things went askew. Walking around the corner he went to the kitchen to kiss Kate hello when he saw her friend Jennifer. Jennifer was about 5’3” and had a nice frame. Often when Mitch and Kate had spoken about her, the conversation would drift. He never mentioned the thoughts he had about Jennifer, however he had had them. He did not want to make Kate feel that she was not the only one for him.
“Hi honey.” Kate stammered looking around. She had no idea that Mitch had planned anything for the night. Her heart leapt when she saw his attention to detail and it made the thoughts in her head spin because she had planned things for the night too to surprise Mitch. Walking over to him she leaned up and kissed him softly.
“Everything looks amazing Mitch. I did not know we had plans for tonight. I just wanted to invite Jennifer over for a movie tonight to watch with us.”
“It’s okay, I didn’t tell you. I wanted to surprise you.” Mitch looked over at Jennifer as she smiled at him. “Would you like something to drink?” He nodded at Jennifer.
