Henry J Sprinkle is not your average blind coroner. He is the last of his kind: a true blue American gentleman—and a ducky shincracker to boot. So when they roll a corpsified Mr. Roger’s into his lab one day, Sprinkle dives right into the case, until he’s elbows-deep in organs and mystery. It seems someone has poisoned Mr. Roger’s, and Sprinkle isn’t buying the bum rap they’re laying on his widow. With his feisty young assistant June Dye acting as his peepers, Sprinkle follows the poison trail. But when it leads to a dead end, they have only way to turn: to Ishmael, Sprinkle’s vile, nudist, forked-tongue asp of a colleague.
While Sprinkle is busy getting the dope from Ishmael (and trying not to flip his wig), June runs afoul of the poisoner and ends up at the hospital. Now it’s all up to our favorite fuddy-duddy to face an enemy he can’t even see. But with his unflappable good mood and polished manners, Sprinkle always manages to have his cake and eat it too, and even a poisoner extraordinaire will have trouble eluding the man with the tasty name.
