The Brothers Grimm, Jacob and Wilhelm were German academics, linguists and authors specializing in collecting and publishing folklore. This first volume of Children’s and Household Tales was published in 1812 and was criticized for not being suitable for children and in later editions certain amendments were made. One mother had three daughters and loved the eldest one most and hated the youngest one. Once the youngest daughter gets lost in a forest and runs into a lonely cabin with an old man living in it.
