Wesley Leery was perfectly normal as far as his looks went. He stood at an average height for a boy his age. Each year when the class lined up to take the annual school picture, Wesley always stood somewhere in the middle. That’s just the way he liked it. He tried to stay as invisible as he could so no one bothered him, even if that meant hiding his abilities. But such behavior also could be lonely. Luckily his one best friend, Isaac, had always accepted him for who he was. Everything changed when Wesley attended his first year of middle school. He found himself pulled ever deeper into the mysterious world of the closemouthed ninth graders who were temporarily assigned to his campus. Beginning with the unexpected way he was greeted by hundreds of cats at an alleged UFO site to the strange feline resemblances of the faculty and the entire ninth grade class, Wesley felt undeniable connections that he could not understand. Then an unexplained energy transformed him into an athletic prodigy and suddenly made him the most popular kid in school. If Wesley were to tell Isaac about all the bizarre things that were really going on, he wasn’t sure that even his faithful buddy would brush it off as being “cool.” Many things Wesley had done made him feel strange, but it wasn’t until sixth grade that he thought he might be more than strange… Wesley thought he might be crazy.
