Stubby Pencil Poems of Great Basin Musin’s

by G.B. Griffith

Stubby Pencil Poems of Great Basin Musin’s is a series of short stories in poetic form of rural life in Nevada’s Great Basin. These experiences, sometimes sad, sometimes humorous, sometimes spiritual, and others none of the above, are told firsthand by someone living out on “the range” in the high desert in the attempt to entertain and not bore the reader—yet still tell the story in an informative manner. The aim is to educate. To let folks who may not know of the challenges faced by those choosing to live in a harsh environment in the rural West and their devotion to the animals they care for.

The high desert of Nevada is full of such stories. It is what G. B. Griffith knew as a kid and a big part of why he decided to return to Nevada and why he now writes. Just learn to watch, listen, be willing to grab a pencil and a pad of paper, and let the words do the work.

About the Author

G. B. Griffith was born in a small rural town in northern Nevada, went to school in Nevada (two BA’s), and returned to Nevada after concluding his military service and successful career, though other opportunities were available elsewhere. He chose the lifestyle he is now enjoying.
