The play is in two acts. There are only three characters. The first major character is a white South African teenage girl. The second of the three characters is a black South African teenage boy. The third character is the teacher of the black teenage boy.

The play is set in Camdembo, South Africa in 1985. The play is primarily about the rising tensions between the black people and the white apartheid government in South Africa. It can be said that the play investigates the tensions between blacks and whites towards the end of apartheid South Africa.
