Hope by Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus | Includes Analysis

Preview:

Hope, the story of two of the three young women held captive by Ariel Castro, is a graphic and gripping account of a decade of abduction, assault, and abuse in a rundown house on Seymour Street in a rough section of Cleveland.

Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus, the two youngest of the three captives, wrote their stories together because they wanted everyone to know the truth, not only about what they endured, but about the hope that enabled them to survive. They derived strength from seeing their families on TV and from the bright spirit of Berry’s daughter, Jocelyn, born four years into her mother’s ordeal.

On April 21, 2003, Berry was a regular teen, working at Burger King, listening to Eminem, and hoping to go to college. She usually did not walk home from work because her mom thought it was dangerous, but no ride was convenient that night…
