A Collection of Modernized Fables and Tales, meant to be read by the family; some fables or tales are allowable for children to read solely, others are meant for adults only or with children under adult supervision. No one will enjoy every story in the collection, but everyone will fall in love with one.

The tales are based on Black American legends, myths, and storytellings from across the American continent. You may have heard of some, like: why Obatala trembles at the river, how Anansi got his stories, Jean Britisse the Champion, The Beautiful girl of the moon, Papa John's tall tale, Good Blanche Bad Rose and the Talking Eggs, and Little Girl and Bruh Rabby.  Teachers and Parents can and should read them with their students or children. They can be used to provide some cultural reference into Black American history and society for adults and children alike.

The moral fables are based on those of Aesop and others. You may have heard of some, like: The Belly and Its Members, The Deer without a Heart, The Frogs who desired a King, The Honest Woodsman, The North Wind and the Sun, Washing the Ethiopian White, the Mountain in Labour, Belling the Cat, the Drowned Woman and her husband, the Milkmaid and her pail, and the Priest and the Wolf. Kids can read the modernized versions on their own but teachers and parents do not have to worry about explaining antiquated or foreign aspects to many children's lives in modern society like Woodcutters, Milkmaids, and general farming life.
