I Wish I’d Had A Copy Of This Manual Prior To My Aortic Surgery In August 2010, I came home from the hospital having survived endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery. I was fortunate to have received an abdominal aortic stent graft, which saved my life. To be honest, I was in a state of shock. Everything went so fast, from Ironman triathlete to aortic aneurysm patient in a matter of weeks. My problem was that I needed guidance and inspiration from someone who’d been there before. In fact, I really needed this manual, which would have helped me to handle my fear, taken me to helpful resources, and put me back on track with my Ironman training without all the concerns I suffered at that time and subsequently. Fear is the biggest challenge. I wrote this guide for the Kevin Morgan (FitOldDog) of August 2010, in the hope of helping those who are forced to follow me down this interesting and scary road. Maybe I was lucky with the outcome, but this kind of encouragement is essential for all of us. This Manual Provides: - Advice on reclaiming your new life based on personal experience. - Some assistance with emotional recovery. - Help with your fears. - Guidance on safe exercise for better health. - Homework to get you going again. - Valuable links via my blog at fitolddog.com to supportive and informative resources. - Someone to talk to. Most importantly, you'll learn that you are not alone.
