EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
Since the turn of the Millennium, it has become clear that we need to be prepared for previously unthinkable acts—biological, chemical, and nuclear terrorism within our own borders. Standard first-aid contents such as gauze and antiseptics are still important, but new items like povodine iodine for mustard gas and activated charcoal for poisoned food sources have become necessary household emergency preparedness supplies. This book will help you assemble everything you need to shelter-in-place: first-aid remedies and tools for common emergencies, such as minor cuts, scrapes, burns, or accidental poisonings, as well as essential supplies necessary to respond to biological, chemical, radiological, and nuclear emergencies.
A panel of physicians, emergency specialists, and first responders developed this next-generation first-aid information guide and survival gear checklist for today's environment. It has been designed to Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) and the American Red Cross's published specifications and recommendations, and includes information and recommendations about over-the-counter medications, bandages, cleansing supplies, facial protection, latex gloves, and emergency aids and tools.
Anthrax, ricin, ebola, smallpox. It is a new, albeit unfortunate, time in our nation's history, and we need to update our thinking about what it means to be prepared for an emergency when time is of the essence.
