In past years the study, control, and understanding of schizophrenia has been greatly hampered by lack of information, inappropriate tools (like no computers of sufficient complexity for handling of compilation and dissemination of data), obviously a lack of appropriate software for such research and perhaps most simply, the incorrect approach. Since we must always reconsider, re-evaluate and redirect our attempts at helping the schizophrenic individual, this paper is directed toward this effort at seeing the schizophrenic person through the "filter" of a "normal" condition such as, synesthesia.

Herein various mental and neural mechanisms are pointed to, similar both to schizophrenia and to synesthesia. This paper was written toward the continuation of research in consideration both a "normal" and an “abnormal" condition with the further comment that this research is complimentary in many ways. While it is acknowledged that there are many other ways that do not match up (surely, or else the two conditions would be the same) what is presented here is the attempt to think “outside the box” and offer an alternative way of considering the topic. Through this type of study, it is conjectured, the human experience could be greatly enriched.
