Tachyon Drive is a collection of theoretical ideas that explores the possibility of traveling at faster than light speeds (FTL). The theory extends ideas of Albert Einstein’s to include FTL travel with in special, and general relativity. By properly manipulating the fabric of spacetime, solutions are derived that show that it is possible to create tachyon particles that could theoretically exist past the speed of light. A beam of tachyon particles can propel a spacecraft to near light speed and beyond. The behavior of moving observers is explored through ‘Gedanken’ thought experiments, and shows some surprising behavior that is counter intuitive at faster than light speed. Various engineering equations are derived to calculate the fuel mass of a tachyon drive, or rocket. There are tremendous technical challenges in achieving a propulsion system that will enable humanity to cross the vast cosmos of space.
