This compact book offers brief descriptions of episodes from local history, combined with a history of the senior age group football teams to have represented the village of Binley Woods. As well as looking at the many lives of the village’s football teams and any links, if known, with the pub and other local amenities and facilities, the book also includes brief observations of the background and evolving nature of what is now Binley Woods and its immediate vicinity, from woodland/farmland on the edge of Bilnei at the time of the Norman Conquest, through to the current village. The village and local area has been influenced by a Welsh king, Cistercian monks, the landscaper Capability Brown, and even has some links with William Shakespeare who was born in the county. There are records, from all the football seasons that teams playing organised football have either represented, or have been based in the village. Details of the leagues entered by teams based in the village are included, as are final positions for most of the seasons (approximately 90%). The remaining details are the best available to have been determined.
