Tangled Webs is Elizabeth Baroodys fifth novela romantic comedy whose characters are caught in layers of mishaps and shaped by lifes unintended consequences. The story begins during the Christmas season when Kelly Severinson decides it is time to get married but not to her boyfriend. Instead, she decides to ensnare her wealthy and already-married lover, Charles Mandeley. That is a problem. The opportunity that Kelly needs to seduce Charles presents itself when Mrs. Mandeleys mother, living in another town, decides to sell the family home and move into an apartment, compelling Mrs. Mandeley to return to her childhood home to help her mother. There she renews her friendship with an old flame, and thoughts of divorce are uppermost in her mind. Both women, young and old, face challenges that change them forever. Lust, kidnapping, greed, death, and human error reshape their lives into a tangled web, and the author skillfully leads the reader to a surprising and satisfying conclusion.
