Eastside College Prep High School has been participating in a grant study by the APHA, the American Public Health Association, for four years. Two years remain on the grant. Each year, Eastside Prep volunteers several members of their athletic teams to participate in the study by submitting to physical examinations conducted by an authorized medical facility. By doing so, the school is awarded several hundred dollars and individual volunteer participants are provided $50 each. This year, the girl’s varsity soccer team was chosen, and their coaches asked for volunteers. Six of the seventeen members of the team volunteered. This is their story, a personal documentation from the perspective of one of the participants.
