I came across the 2 Position Guitar Scale System several years ago when I was fooling around in an altered tuning – fourths tuning to be precise – and wondered if I could apply the same logic to standard tuning to teach scales and arpeggios using only two patterns per scale instead of the usual five or seven. It turns out that I could, and saw many of my students go from mediocre improvisers to confident and creative improvisers in a very short period of time. It was then that I decided to bring it to a wider audience in the form of an introductory book, a beginner book, a scales and arpeggios book, and the book you’re currently browsing: The 2 Position Guitar Scale System: Blues Soloing.

In this book, you’ll study the fundamental scales and arpeggios used in blues guitar in a progressive way using just two patterns per scale yet covering the entire fretboard while always knowing exactly where you are in any scale at any given moment. With this powerful system, you’ll be able to navigate the fretboard in a variety of scales, change keys on the fly, and play over major and minor blues changes with ease.
