Sample: When Maurice stuck his head outside his mousehole, he saw a small creature, kind of
fuzzy. It had feet very different from his own tiny little mouse feet. None of Maurice’s friends had feet like that! “And what’s that on it’s mouth?” he wondered as he wrinkled up his cute little mouse nose. Maurice had to rub his eyes. Maybe he wasn’t really awake yet. When he opened his eyes again he thought he was seeing double. Now there were TWO of them - two little fuzzy things. They were making squeaky, peeping sounds. They each had two large feet and waddled from side to side when they walked. And they had BIG lips on their mouths.
###
When Maurice is awakened by a strange sound, he discovers two little fuzzy things with great big
lips and funny-looking feet. When he realizes that they are lost, he gathers his friends to help Dooley and Dolly, baby ducklings separated from their mama. Join Maurice, Maureen, Bobby
the Bunny, Stinky the Skunk and Squeak the Squirrel in their efforts to reunite the baby
ducklings and their family - all 10 brothers and sisters!
About the Adventures of Maurice DeMouse by Grandma Sharon:
Maurice DeMouse came to life on paper in the Fall of 2003 when a little mouse startled me and
two of my grandchildren as it ran from a fireplace in their home. They kept asking for more stories about a little mouse, and thus evolved The Adventures of Maurice DeMouse by Grandma Sharon.
The Adventures all center around Maurice; however, as his Adventures unfold, Maurice makes
friends with mouse Maureen, Bobby the Bunny, Squeaky the Squirrel, and Stinky the Skunk,
and most of these characters are included throughout the series.
Later in the Adventures, more friends are introduced to the stories: Rosie Racoon and her babies Rudy and Randy; Pokey the Turtle; Bruno the Bear; Froggy the Cat; the Little Ducklings Dooley and Dolly with their ten brother and sister ducklings: Dutchess, Duke, Dilly, Dippy, Donnie, Doris, Doolittle, Dahlia, Daphne, Daffy, Dinky and Denny; Miss Missy Mouse the School
Teacher; Choo-Choo Charlie the Steam Engine; and Snowflake, the Turkish Van Cat.
Each story is designed to entertain, amuse, and educate toddlers and young children about
animals or life events, and an occasional lesson can be learned from the character’s behavior and
adventures. Maurice and his friends also go to school for the first time (Time for School!) and
experience adventures that young children encounter, as well as a move across country when
Cassie’s daddy is transferred (A Moving Experience), and a brief stay in the Mous-pital when Maurice gets sick (Maurice Goes to the Mous-pital).
Not all of the Adventures have been published, but more are forthcoming. I hope you enjoy
reading The Adventures of Maurice Demouse, by Grandma Sharon.
