Desperate to make money, Tommy takes on a newspaper route and entices the aide of two friends, David Drake and James Piston.
Always fearful of someone stumbling onto his treasure, Tommy decides to cheat in order to win the annual relay kayak race. Matters worsen when Tommy lies to cover up his cheating. After he realizes his mistakes, Tommy breaks open his piggybank and leads his team to the buried treasure. What he discovers is far more valuable than he ever dreamed possible.
