We have here the eloquent expressions of W.E.B Du Bois and Marcus Mosiah Garvey, two sensitive fighter poets who at the height of their powers struggled against the waves of oppression, misery and the woe which engulfed their people. There is evidence of bitterness, angst, bewilderness and frustration in these poetic lines, but also there is understanding, hope, vision and irresistible pride of race. It is hoped that generations of leaders of the Black race would learn from this collection, develop a sense of philosophies they encapsulate, so as to inform and guide contributions to the African renaissance.
