Adam Verlain's father died in a robbery, when he was fifteen, so he used his love of books to hide from the world, something his job as a rare book cataloguer for a small university in London was perfect for. But then that university acquired a newly discovered 1865 edition of "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and they wanted him to fly to Los Angeles and pick it up. Adam hated even the thought of leaving his careful, cloistered world, and only agreed to go when told the book will be brought to him at the airport so he can return home on the very next flight.
However...when he finally meets the amazingly beautiful Casey Blanchard, the movie star who inherited the book, she will not let him have the book unless he accompanies her to a premier of her latest film for reasons that seem...well, quite odd.
Adam is forced to go along because if he does not get the book, he'll lose a job he loves. But thanks to Casey, his careful, cloistered world crashes into a chaotic mix of a too-cool henna artist, her demon toddler, her fan-boy husband, a protective mother, a drill-sergeant stylist, questionable edibles, two mistaken identities, hysterical fans, Hollywood royalty, their courtiers and minions, maniacal LA drivers, an outlandish party, a drowning pool in Beverly Hills, a love-struck panther on a homemade veldt, 50 cans of salmon, a bubble bath...and the terrifying realization he’s fallen in love with a woman every man in the world desires, whom he knows he cannot trust...and could never love him back.
Or could she?
