Moving away from the nation-state focused model of Atlantic history, this book emphasizes the comparisons among national experiences of the Atlantic. Meanwhile, by extending beyond the early modern period and into the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, it presents the continued analytical value of the Atlantic paradigm.
