Washington Irving was an American author, essayist, biographer, short-stories writer best known for his stories "Rip Van Winkle”(1819) and "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" (1820). “The Boody Squire” is the story including memoirs of the narrator about his boyhood and cousin, who still lives in family mansion. The cousin had grown up ignorant, self-willed, and clownish. He was prodigal and lived far beyond his proceeds. He was vulgar in his expenses, but was stingly and unfair with his own servants, who decieved and despised him. The relatives did not communicate with him. One day the narrator deceived to pay a visit to the mansion of his maternal ancestors, but he determined to do so in disguise… What meeting does wait the narrator and how will the story end?
