THE BOOK OF FLOYD/GOD TRANSFORMS A RACIST is the fictional story of how God decides to transform a young white man with racist tendencies into an instrument of healing between the races. God chooses Floyd, a 25-year old man with a history of emotional and physical attacks on people of color, as a candidate for spiritual transformation. Raised by parents that modeled bigotry and prejudice, Floyd has landed in prison for assaulting an African-American neighbor. God sends Michael, a black messenger angel, to give the angry young man a chance to change his way of thinking. Michael saves Floyd from being injured or killed by a black gang, thereby earning his grudging respect. The angel presents God's offer: undergo an intense three-day program of transformation. The process is divided into three specific day-parts: Crucifixion, Transformation and Resurrection. Michael explains that God has chosen Floyd as a candidate for the program because of the young man's negative actions towards minorities. God wants to demonstrate how a mental and emotional transformation of one racist can be used to shape better relations for all people. After considering Michael's message and hearing from Satan who argues against accepting God's offer, Floyd agrees to try the program. THE BOOK OF FLOYD details the young man's experiences during the process of spiritual transformation. It ends with God conducting a test to determine the extent of Floyd's inner growth. The outcome of that test determines whether Floyd has successfully completed the Transformation process and can now be used as an instrument of healing between the races.
