Archibald 'Archie' Simpson runs the local antique shop. He is given a family heirloom of a cameo brooch by his aunt, who later tells him it has magical powers. Then strange things happen. Archie loves a profit, but when the brooch is in the shop and Gabrielle, the lady he fancies arrives, he becomes generous to his customers. Then ladies who buy his brooch, return it the next day, complaining that it screeches when they touch it, so he offers them a free gift. When the brooch is not with him, Archie has to walk through the park because his van won't start. The weather gets windy, blowing leaves all around him and no one else. When Archie gets the brooch back, the weather is calm again and his van starts up. Then one day, Archie sees a ghost of a lady. He soon realises that she is connected to the brooch and the weather. He finds out from his aunt that she is his great-great aunt Beatrice, the original owner of the brooch, and how she started the brooch's powers. He also finds out that his descendant wants him to give the brooch to Gaby. After a third customer returns with the brooch and a complaint about it, Archie hopes that he can finally give the brooch to Gaby. When he has to walk through the park near the end of the week, the weather is calm, the gates don't creak and clang behind him, and he notices that the village sign is changing its name, he feels that it's the day he can hopefully declare his love to Gaby by giving her the brooch, which she has previously complimented. So, when Gaby appears in the shop, he gives the brooch to her, mumbling his love, and she tells him, 'About time, too.' The brooch is now with its rightful owner and Archie has got his wish – to be with Gaby, the love of his life.
