In 1935, the editor of Fantasy Magazine asked five prominent science fiction writers and five prominent fantasy writers to write two "round-robin" stories, both called The Challenge From Beyond. The authors of the fantasy version were C.L. Moore, A. Merritt, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard and Frank Belknap Long. The science fiction version was written by Stanley G. Weinbaum, Donald Wandrei, Edward E. (E.E. Doc) Smith, Harl Vincent, and Murray Leinster.
Both versions are included in this book.
