Sometimes when you come back from the dead, the dead come with you.
A collection of first chapters from the chilling Dori O Paranormal Mystery Series by Mary Castillo. Featuring selections from:
“Till Death Do Us Part”
Lost in the Light
Girl in the Mist
Lost in Whispers
Praise for the Series
"Lost in the Light is the entertaining answer to the question, 'What would happen if Kinsey Milhone met "The Ghost and Mrs. Muir"?'" – Deanna Raybourn, author of Silent in the Grave and A Spear of Summer Grass
"This book captivated me. The ending might have been my favorite. One of my favorite mystery reads of the year, and one to get your to-read list!" – Samantha March, author of The Green Ticket
Meet the Author
I love the movie, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir and I always wanted to try my hand at a gothic novel ala Victoria Holt or Madeleine Brent with a creepy old house, ghosts and mysterious men! During the three years it took to write Lost in the Light, the story evolved from a romantic comedy to a more emotionally complex and darker paranormal mystery.
When the story was done, I fell into a funk that my time with these great characters had come to an end. But I was on vacation with my family when the idea for Dori and Gavin’s romantic weekend gone awry took hold, which became Girl in the Mist. I wrote that novella in a burst of inspiration and then dove into Lost in Whispers. I’ve since learned that I must have a series bible to keep track of characters and where the heck they’re going.
Connecting with readers through my stories is awesome! Hearing from someone who said that they fell in love with a character, or read the first chapter to a loved one as they lay sick in the hospital is … there's no way I can describe the humility knowing my work touched someone's life. I don't care if the story comes directly from the author or through a publisher, or in ebook, audiobook or print form, that sense of connection is what writing is really about. When the reader takes the journey with the characters and then puts it down with a smile on her face, my job has been done.
I grew up in a haunted house. No, I’m not psychic although I am very intuitive, and I use tarot to feel my way through my stories. If you’re interested, I use the Halloween Tarot created by Kipling West.
I’m into pages for book four of the Dori series. I’m so creeped out by it but loving it. I will be starting a live podcast video series on Facebook (and possibly Instagram, too but don’t quote me on that!) as I narrate Lost in Whispers for the audiobook to be released in fall 2018.
