Mario Del Monaco, recent immigrant, is determined to break the nineteenth century cycle of poverty and crime that enslaves Italians in New Yokr City. He becomes a Congressman, and assisted by his son Ben, who becomes a District Attorney, he sets out to clean up the neighborhood. Standing in his was is his other son Damiano, a vicious murderer who has joined the local Mafia family.
