It was 4 a.m. and Charlie, still unable to get an answer on the phone, decided to head home. Upon reaching Hemlock Rd. he is forced to stop to remove a fallen branch that is blocking the road. He moves the log and a “shadow man” appears and begins to move toward him. He jumps back into his car and drives through shadow.
Eleanor explains what happened and how they found Jacob and in the ‘light’. Charlie is stunned. He suggests that maybe she was ‘dreaming’. She tells him, “Don’t you dare.”
Charlie drives into town to use the phone. He meets Ed Martin, the police chief. He asks about Jacob and the chief tells Charlie that the boy is trouble. Charlie does not like the vibe he gets from the Chief.
Jacob runs home and, as he has been trained to do, sits in the chair waiting for Father Sir to return. Back at the Winter’s Joey and Bobby are watching TV when the screen turns black. A frightening voice comes from the TV saying, “Stay away from Jacob Lightfoot.” Eleanor, out on the porch, sees several shadows coming up the driveway towards her. Bigger and darker they become and she begins to pray. They move down the side of the house.
The frequency and severity of the ‘shadow attacks’ are increasing rapidly.
